Danya Pastuszek Appointed Co-CEO of the Tamarack Institute

The Board of Directors of the Tamarack Institute is proud to announce the appointment of Danya Pastuszek as CO-CEO and Director of Vibrant Communities. Danya joins the Tamarack Institute from the United Way of Salt Lake, where she worked for 10 years helping lead the organization's collective impact transformation and the development of the Promise Partnership, a regional cross-sector partnership comprised of multiple place-based cradle-to-career initiatives. She served most recently as the Chief Operating Officer. Danya assumes this leadership role from Paul Born who is the Founder and Co-CEO of the Tamarack Institute since its inception in 2001.

It has now been over 20 years since the New Communities Program (NCP), the United States’ largest comprehensive community initiative began. Founded in Chicago by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation in collaboration with over 20 community development partners and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the New Communities Program took a comprehensive approach to development, incorporating lessons learned from the community development corporation crisis in Chicago in the mid ’90s.

Innovative community-based projects reducing poverty in Saint John

In 2018, Living SJ collectively raised an additional $10 million over five years for the Saint John community to reduce poverty when they became the stewards of New Brunswick’s Social Innovation Fund. The purpose of the grant is to demonstrate innovative community-based practices that could successfully lift Saint John residents out of poverty and be scaled to other jurisdictions throughout the province.
