Communities of Practice are small, interactive groups of practitioners who connect through an online meeting to learn and share their experiences. The sessions are open and relevant to anyone working with multi-sector, comprehensive and community-based approaches to social issues.
As an Institute, we put a lot of emphasis on training and capacity development in order to equip community leaders with the skills they need to do their work more effectively. It is through this capacity development that we will get to impact.
Each year, we host several 2 and 3-day gatherings, and over ten 1-day workshops covering a range of topics within our Idea and Practice areas. In 2016 alone, learners collectively spent over 15,000 days in our seminars, workshops and gatherings.
The format for each training is independently developed by the curriculum team, however there are several learning models that are core to all Tamarack learning events:
Training sessions take place across Canada, into the U.S., and also tour further afield – most recently throughout Australia and New Zealand. We try to vary locations as much as possible and we also bring 1-day workshops to smaller cities and more rural areas. Please review the event calendar, and reach out to us if you'd like to bring a workshop to your own community.
We focus on a partnership model with clients, working together to co-develop the project design to integrate concepts and ideas and ensure that they meet your specific assignment needs. Through this work, our goal is to advance the work of collaboration and engagement in communities, while producing knowledge for the field.
