CASE STUDY | Revelstoke's Long-Term Strategy Offsets Child Care Shortages

Articles, Cities Reducing Poverty, Community Development, CRP Publications, Communities Ending Poverty

In Revelstoke (population approximately 10,000), more than 50 women and two men provide quality licensed part- and full-time early learning and child care to more than 335 infants, toddlers and children.

For more than 15 years, the Revelstoke Child Care Society (RCCS) has invested in leadership, planning, and innovation to address child care shortages. Through growing the number of qualified Early Childhood Educators (ECEs), recruiting local providers, and building strong partnerships, Revelstoke now has one of the highest numbers of child care spaces per capita in the region.
