Eric Smith
Eric was born and raised in rural villages in DR Congo, Africa, to American parents serving as educators. After completing his undergraduate degree at Taylor University in the USA, he returned to work in DR Congo and Uganda, applying community development principles and practices in the international development setting. Eric returned to the USA to complete his Master’s degree in Community Development from North Dakota State University. During this time, he also worked on neighbourhood revitalization initiatives in urban centres in Ohio and sustainable economic development efforts in the rural towns of Central Appalachia. Eric brings to his current role as a Community Engagement Coordinator with Heifer International a passion for building communities in which ALL people can thrive and attain their highest potential. Eric and his wife, Martha, enjoy participating in their two children’s growth in Ohio.
