Jorge believes in the power of places and the potential of communities to build equitable and regenerative futures. He joins the Vibrant Communities team as a Manager of Cities at Community Climate Transitions.
Jorge brings a diverse background of experience in visual thinking, strategy development, program design and urban policy analysis. Prior to joining Tamarack, he was a Program Officer at the McConnell Foundation where he contributed to building the Foundation’s place-based work and exploring the role of communities in driving social transformation. Jorge also collaborated with UN-Habitat in convening international conversations to advance place-based equity, resilience and municipal engagement in the context of the New Urban Agenda.
Jorge believes that every person is capable of building a vision of the future that is regenerative and grounded in the lessons of those who walked before us. Besides his engagement at Tamarack, Jorge serves as a board member at Canadian Roots Exchange, where he is committed to advancing collective efforts to support Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth to become reconciliation leaders through training, research and events.
Jorge has a Master of Urban Planning degree from McGill University, a Bachelor in International Relations from Tec de Monterrey, and a Certificate in Public Policy Analysis from the London School of Economics and Political Science. During his free time, you can find Jorge chasing street art in his Montréal neighbourhood, taking care of his plants and browsing through the latest software trends.
