Community Engagement, Case Studies, Ontario, Homepage Resources, Gender Equity, Peel Region, Karenveer Pannu

What happens when the people in a community are given decision-making power? In this case study, discover how Tamarack is working with Peel Region residents, thanks to the WES Mariam Assefa Fund and our co-led participatory grantmaking pilot project, to support international students.

Igniting Change in the Peel Region of Ontario

The Peel Region People’s Panel chose to fund a project put forth by Laadliyan, an organization that focuses on empowering women and girls. The project tackles crucial topics such as legal support, workplace rights, financial literacy, health and wellness, self-defense, professional development, and nutrition.

Uncover the six key themes identified through consultations, shedding light on the concerns of women international students in the Peel Region: exploitation by employers, lack of support, isolation, harassment, discrimination, and fraud.
