The Justice Sector Constellation was a pioneer in seeking to improve access to justice as an approach to poverty reduction, including by educating and engaging Albertans in the many ways poverty and the law intersect. The Constellation used the Collective Impact framework to guide and shape how it engaged multiple perspectives to advance its agenda.
The Constellation’s work made it easier to identify and access justice sector services through a single database, trained non-justice sector service providers to help their clients access justice sector services, and educated professionals, students and community members using a Poverty and the Law Module which has been incorporated into courses at post-secondary institutions.
The Justice Sector Constellation was a catalyst for advancing Enough for All (E4A), Calgary’s community-driven poverty-reduction strategy. Vibrant Communities Calgary has stewarded E4A since 2015.
Though the Constellation formally disbanded in 2022, after almost a decade of working together, its legacy lives on through its member organizations.
