The aim of the bi-monthly Asset-Based Community Development Community of Practice (ABCD CoP) is to go deeper into ABCD practice and explore helpful tools and resources by bringing together practitioners and residents who are applying or are seeking to apply an ABCD approach to their community development work.

By joining this unique community of practice you will be able to share your experiences and knowledge in free-flowing and creative ways with other professionals who are working on similar challenges or issues. By engaging in facilitated conversations with your peers, you will uncover new approaches to problems, build your professional skill set, access new ideas and contribute to the transfer of best practices.

Deb Wisniewski

Deb Wisniewski and her spouse Steve Kretzmann, are members of a small island community in Wisconsin (United States), where she learns about what “community” means every day.

Since first hearing about ABCD in 1993, she has worked with a wide variety of groups and organizations – from nonprofits and businesses to governmental and Indigenous agencies – to explore how we can build on the skills of individuals, the power of local associations and the supportive functions of local institutions. Through her consulting agency, she provides coaching, training, and facilitation, all based on a foundation of ABCD.

In 2009, Deb co-founded ABCD in Action, a worldwide online ABCD community, and then served as the lead community host through Sept. 2022. As a steward with the ABCD Institute, Deb currently chairs the ABCD and Rural Communities workgroup. Deb is a connector at heart and loves hearing and telling stories.
