Learners across Canada will convene to co-create a plan for resiliency that moves beyond ending poverty and toward economic mobility in ways that honour people, partnerships, and the planet.
This virtual event will explore resiliency in a new way, surface what’s working at the community level, and unite us to inform a robust public policy agenda. We will build hope and inspiration, engage in creative dialogue and networking, and share tools that strengthen our collective capacity to build a better future for all.
This event will gather Canada’s community development leaders and neighbourhood practitioners to explore Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) and bring together communities and municipalities to meet in the middle. We will learn together from towns and cities across North America that have taken a bold shift to change how they show up in community and stop doing to and for community to be more supportive. We will also hear from people who are taking back the function of their neighbourhoods and becoming leaders for change.
Tamarack’s Learning Centre exists to empower community changemakers to achieve greater impact. We draw upon our 15 years of experience leading community change and advancing practice to support municipalities, funders, non-profits, and community leaders through on-demand coaching and consulting, in-person and digital training, and publications that guide change efforts.
We support our learning network in developing five interconnected ideas that lead to community change:
In Vibrant Communities we support cities and local leaders to develop and implement large-scale change initiatives through these learning networks:
Cities Deepening Community is a network of 67 cities seeking to strengthen neighbourhoods and 25 cities developing community plans to grow citizen engagement, civic leadership and a sense of belonging.
Communities Building Youth Futures is a five-year strategy to work with up to 13 communities to develop system-wide solutions for youth as they build and act upon plans for their future.
Community Climate Transitions is building a network of communities that are committed to tackling climate change through a multi-solving approach that advances social, environmental and economic goals simultaneously.
