Article | Learnings From 10 years of Collective Impact

This article summarizes key take-aways from the articles released so far to provide you with a high-level summary of the wisdom and learnings gleaned from successful Collective Impact initiatives that have been shared in the series to date.

Our hope is that this might help to inform the design and implementation of your own Collective Impact initiative as well as encourage you to reflect on and share any of your own insights implementing Collective Impact to support the evolution of this important field of practice.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a decade since the debut of Collective Impact as a framework. To mark this important milestone, the Collective Impact Forum reached out to several of its key partners – including Tamarack – and worked with the Stanford Social Innovation Review to develop a special, online series, Collective Impact, 10 Years Later, which includes articles from the Collective Impact Forum and the Stanford Social Innovation Review.

The series officially launched at the end of November 2021 with an article co-authored by John Kania, Junious Williams, Paul Schmitz, Sheri Brady, Mark Kramer & Jennifer Splansky Juster entitled Centering Equity in Collective Impact.

The paper explicitly identifies equity as “the North Star for why and how collective impact work takes place” and features a revised definition of Collective Impact.
