Where Our Attention Goes

Focus our attention

I've been appreciating recent conversations on choosing where we put our attention.

Last week, I had the gift of time off. I attended to being present. I got outside. I read novels. I held my kids’ hands while we walked, and we made crafts for friends and neighbors. We went to shared spaces, and - because I was paying attention to it - I saw people around us experiencing unabashed joy, genuine connection and happy surprise.

By midweek, with the shift in attention, I could see a bit more clearly the magnitude of what’s in front of us - and opportunities to meet it.

Vacation is over, and I'm recommitting to noticing where attention goes, as a means of seeing both what needs to change and how we take part in changing it.

(I’m fortunate to have time-off and colleagues who lead everyday and during time away - thank you!)
