Community of Practice for Collective Climate Transitions

A collaboration between the Tamarack Institute and the Foundation of Greater Montreal

The Collective Climate Transition Community of Practice

Over the last year, 2025-2026, the Tamarack Institute and the Foundation of Greater Montreal (FGM) collaborated to support the recipients of the Foundation's Collective Fund for Climate and Ecological Transition. This collaboration led to the implementation of the Community of Practice for Collective Climate Transitions (CPCCT), which regrouped local leaders from 17 initiatives across the Greater Montreal area. The community of practice, which ran from September 2025 to May 2026, enabled these grassroots groups and social movements to explore a variety of themes linked to Tamarack's skills for change, including collaboration, collective leadership, and impact evaluation.

On this page, you will find the evaluation framework of the community of practice, including a visual and booklet, the recording of a webinar organized by Tamarack, the FGM, and Prenons la Ville on the topic of "Supporting citizen action through collaboration to advance the socio-ecological transition in Montreal" (in French), several blog articles which introduce the work of some of the groups who participated in the community of practice, and the evaluation report of the collaboration (forthcoming).

“For socio-ecological transition movements to contribute to the convergence of struggles, they must adopt an intersectional perspective. In my opinion, this is the preferred way to understand the struggles of others, to identify points of convergence to strengthen their solidarity, and to build the foundations of a common struggle. This perspective requires recognizing that there can be no climate justice without social justice, nor social justice without racial justice and reconciliation.”

- Saôde Savary, Founder and Executive Director of Olympes de la Parole Canada and participant in the Community of Practice for Collective Climate Transitions
