Asset-Based Community Development 101: A People-Centered Approach

Virtual Workshop | SOLD OUT!

In this workshop, you will be introduced to Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) as a people-centered approach to program planning. The ABCD approach looks for and starts with people's gifts and strengths (assets), when these assets are connected they can then address the problems and challenges in their communities.

Join Heather Keam to work through the foundations and principles of ABCD and how to center community in your programs and activities. This workshop is for those who are new to ABCD or want a refresher as ABCD has changed a lot over the past 10 years.

Advancing Systems Change with Collective Impact

2-Part Virtual Workshop | May  8 & 15, 2024

Join us for this new, two-part virtual workshop designed to help you design, implement, and renew a successful Collective Impact Initiative with a specific emphasis on impacting systems with strategies aimed at disrupting the established patterns within individuals, sectors and institutions that contribute to, and perpetuate, the very issues that we are working to fix.

This workshop will profile lessons from practitioners about how to achieve high-impact results and will focus specifically on the importance of bringing a systems lens to Collective Impact to explicitly incorporate both programmatic AND systems-change strategies into Collective Impact implementation plans.

This two-part virtual workshop is ideal for anyone interested in deepening their knowledge about effectively designing, implementing, or renewing a Collective Impact initiative to achieve community and systems-level impact.

Testimonials

”I just want to tell you how much I loved the conference in Edmonton. The speakers and workshops were amazing. You did an excellent job of pulling this together. I can’t stop thinking about how I can apply what I learned in my work. Thanks so much for all that you and everyone involved did to help us all feel welcomed and part of a movement. I will recommend next year’s conference to others.”

- ABCD Edmonton participant

“One of the best workshops I've been to! Very well organized. I took notes and ideas about how to run a good workshop just as much as I took notes on the content.”

- Evaluation + Design participant

"My passion has always to spend time in Life-Long Learning and Tamarack continues to offer new ways of thinking and/or doing!!! Thanks for all you do!!”

- Community Engagement participant

“Thank you for organizing a festival (not a workshop or a conference) for focusing on creating a learning place, rather than teaching - this way is key. Thank you for weaving Toronto into the event - it was almost another presenter. I wanted to let you know that it was deeply meaningful, only on the professional, but on human, personal level. Thank you again.”

- Community Change Festival participant

”Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this VERY well organized event! I met many people and left energized. We will continue to prioritize attending these events.”

- Poverty Reduction Summit Participant

”This conference has been an amazing experience! It was interactive and accessible with top notch speakers and presenters and a presence of at least 2 levels of government.”
