Hi there,
A word from Liz:
As we welcome Spring back to the Northern Hemisphere, we invite you to celebrate, reflect, and act. March 8 is International Women’s Day, an opportunity for us to consider the achievements and struggles faced by women on a global scale. While there is much to celebrate, there remain enormous gaps in pay equity, political representation, and corporate leadership. Women and children experience violence at a greater rate and in many places in our communities they feel unsafe and unwelcome. Collectively, we can think about more we can do to create safety, inclusion, and support for all voices in community change.
In this issue, Danya Pastuszek reflects on her journey over the past year as the incoming co-CEO of Tamarack. Her observations consider both the opportunities and challenges that all organizations are facing as they balance the priorities of equity, inclusion, justice, and reconciliation in our work.
Strategies for building our collective capacity to act with intention and purpose are shared in articles about the collaboration cycle, connecting with municipal governments to advance policy change, and supporting youth and communities to navigate climate anxiety. There are pressing issues ahead and we invite you to read the articles and perspectives shared. Take an opportunity this month to pause, reflect, take purposeful action, and celebrate women in your community leading change.
