PAPER | Civic Gemstones: The Emergent Communities Movement

Written by Tyler Norris | August 7, 2015
In this paper, Tyler Norris provides a clear snapshot of his vision for positive social change propelled by “deeply inclusive” movements for change across North America. He defines citizen movements as “taking sustained action toward measurably improving human well-being and community quality of life”. While Tyler's discussion of movements for change is rooted in the context of the American “Communities Movement,” we believe his conclusions have broad application in thinking about the role and design of movements for change within Canada.
