CASE STUDY | Windsor-Essex: A Journey to Collective Impact

Collective Impact, Case Studies, Adam Vasey

Windsor-Essex County (Windsor-Essex), the southernmost region in Canada, consists of nine municipalities: Amherstburg, Essex, Kingsville, Lakeshore, Lasalle, Leamington, Pelee Island, Tecumseh, and Windsor. Historically, the strength of the regional economy has been highly dependent on the strength of the automotive sector. This made the region especially vulnerable during the 2008-2009 recession.Pathway to Potential, in Windsor-Essex, launched in 2008, focused on building awareness, advocating for systemic change, and developing local innovations to combat poverty. These efforts laid the groundwork for a shift to Collective Impact and an evolving municipal role in poverty reduction.
