CASE STUDY | Supporting Systems Changes Through a Lens of Convening & Connecting: How a Jewish Federation’s Disability Inclusion Initiative Nudged an Ecosystem in Montreal and Beyond

In this article, Carly Goodman of Federation CJA (FCJA) shares the story of how FCJAs Inclusion Initiative helped to fill a community void – as a key Disability Inclusion convener and connector in the Montreal Jewish Community Ecosystem.

This moving article provides an overview of the Inclusion Initiative and offers insights into the impacts on young adults living with disabilities, families of young adults living with disabilities and community professionals and organizations. 

The initiative infused members with a sense of hope, affirmed the power of collaboration, increased coordination between organizations as well as partnerships resulting in new initiatives, and helped to make the insurmountable task of shifting the culture of a community which is nearly impossible seem possible.

Based in Montreal, Carly has worked as the Senior Manager, Community Belonging & Disability Inclusion, at Federation CJA for nearly four years now. She is an Occupational Therapist by training, who has worked in diverse practice settings including in Toronto, California, and more recently Montreal.

Pamela brings more than 20 years of experience within the advocacy and community development sector to her role as Chief Strategy & Impact Officer, a mandate which began in March 2021. Prior to this mandate, she held the position a Director for Evaluating Impact at the Tamarack Institute.
