WEBINAR | Advocating for Poverty Reduction the “Rights” Way

Written by the Tamarack Institute | September 1, 2016

In this webinar, Michèle Biss, Legal Education and Outreach Coordinator for Canada Without Poverty (CWP), Stephen Portman, Advocacy Lead for Together Against Poverty Society (TAPS), and DJ Larkin, Housing Campaigner for Pivot Legal Society, talk about human rights as an emerging approach to poverty reduction, and share insights about developing and leading a rights-based campaign. The webinar spotlights two case studies: CWP’s Chew On This, which advocates for a national poverty reduction strategy and the right to food security; and Super InTent City, in which TAPS led a litigation action for community members’ right to adequate housing in Victoria, BC.
