Canada Needs a Rights-Based Approach to Anti-Poverty Strategies

Poverty rates in 2022 are estimated to be potentially double what Statistics Canada reports.

Canada Without Poverty has released Poverty Progress Profiles 2022 whose key message is that no benefit, social assistance program, or minimum wage rate in Canada is enough to provide people with sufficient money for everyday expenses. These include necessities like rent, nutritious food, childcare, transportation, and medications. In addition, no inflation benefit provides people with any lasting or adequate relief during this cost-of-living crisis in 2022.

Tamarack's Annual Report Celebrates 15 Years

An annual report is a time to say thank you to our 24,000 learning partners in 2,909 cities from across Canada, the United States and 52 countries from around the world. It is also, a time to celebrate and this year we have included a special 15-year reflection.

In the report we thank the partners that have contributed to our work financially. You will find over 800 organizations and individuals that invested this year as donors, members, consulting clients and learners.

Tamarack Institute was founded in 2002 and for the past 14 years we have had one simple goal. Our community of volunteers, learners and staff are dedicated to making the work of community change easier and more effective. We believe in systems change and our work assumes that we can change whole systems, for the better. We look for evidence of change in our communities – like improvements to individual or family outcomes, increased capacity within communities to address social issues, or new policies and programs to improve peoples’ lives.
