About Jiwei
As a mid-career family physician working in community health, three words forge meaning for me – community, collaboration, and equity. My focus interest is in strengthening health equity for marginalized populations through collective impact of community organizations with special interest in enhancing newcomer health.
I started the Immigrant Health Collaborative of BC to engender wrap-around supports for newcomers to navigate the health system. From 2021-2022, I served as the Co-Chair of the Shared Care Committee, a provincial collaborative between government, clinical, community, and patient/family caregivers. Our work focuses on implementation of networks of IHI Quality Improvement initiatives throughout BC to foster collaboration at the community level to make it easier for British Columbians to live healthy lives.
As of September 2022, I am the Assistant Program Director and Assistant Professor at Department of Family Medicine in Kingston, Ontario, to train and shape the future of family medicine. My focus is on effective and equitable team-based care models embedded in quality improvement, practice enhancement, and value creation in family medicine.
I am delighted to be serving on the Tamarack Board and I believe Tamarack is the best-positioned organization to advance broad impact across our communities, particularly for those who have historically received asymmetric attention.
In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth we honour and acknowledge that our work occurs across Turtle Island (North America), which has been home since time immemorial to the ancestors of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples.
