Here at Tamarack, we have been thinking a lot about the ways in which climate is connected to issues like poverty, inequality, healthy communities and opportunities for youth. We know that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a useful social and equity lens on the climate targets we need to reach if we are to avoid ecological catastrophe. We also believe that we'll only be successful at advancing climate and equity if we pursue solutions that address both simultaneously.
To help unpack some of the linkages across this broad range of issues, we invited community changemakers from across Canada to contribute pieces on the subject and have published the top 10 articles as a two-part series this week. We hope these bring you new perspectives on the challenges you are tackling in your community.
We are also pleased to share the news that we will be hosting our first-ever national gathering for Community Climate Transitions. Join us November 15-16 for an exciting virtual event Communities Taking Climate Action – Putting Equity at the Centre packed with inspiring keynote speakers, panels, workshops and masterclasses on topics related to climate, equity and the essential role of communities in the transition.
Finally, a warm welcome to Jennifer Lerus-Roulez, who joined the Community Climate Transitions team as Manager of Cities last month. We are excited to have her on board!
Sincerely,
Laura and the Tamarack team

Communities Taking Climate Action:
Putting Equity at the Centre
Virtual gathering, with local meetups across Canada
November 15-16, 2022
With a growing community of over1,500 changemakers and climate champions from across Canada, we are celebrating the first year and a half of Community Climate Transitions, including the 10-month learning journey that 19 trailblazing communities embarked on earlier this year.
Over the two days you will have an opportunity to take part in over 5 hours of specially curated workshops and masterclasses, meet other community climate movers and shakers, experience coaching opportunities, access learning resources and much more!
This collection of articles explores the work needed on climate change that promotes health and wellbeing, empowers diverse groups to act and recognizes intersectionality.
It features work by Elissama Menezes, Chiara Camponeschi, Jennifer Lerus-Roulez, May Massijeh, Astrid Arumae and Matthew Carreau.
We are building a network of communities that are committed to advancing the SDGs and tackling climate change through a multi-solving approach. The Tamarack team is here to support you on your journey.
