With Earth Day just around the corner and with the recent IPCC reports and the federal climate plan, we’ve been reflecting on how we can be better stewards of the lands, waters and atmosphere.
How can we work collectively to build hopeful and inspiring narratives around what a just and equitable climate transition could look like, and take actions to make those visions a reality? Quebec communities are leading the way, as we explore in this case study on Collectivités ZéN.
We are also reflecting on the notion of ‘home’. Our planet is home to nearly 8 billion people, yet many do not have a roof over their heads and many more are grappling with housing insecurity. In Canada, as in many places today, skyrocketing housing prices have led to an affordability crisis. The federal government’s recent announcement of a $10B housing plan is positive news, but there is still much work to do.
There are many links between the underlying causes of the housing and climate crises we face, just as there are opportunities to address these two issues in tandem and examples of communities doing just that. Learn more in our new publication on the topic.
