Hi there,
June is Indigenous History Month and Pride Month, and as we heard back in April at the Communities Ending Poverty Summit for Strength event, poverty reduction work is Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Justice, and Reconciliation (EDIJR) work.
The Summit for Strength was about building the collective hope, strength, and resilience needed to replace systems that harm 2SLGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous, and racialized people. Lisa Helps delivered a powerful keynote on Leverage Points, Convening and Economic Reconciliation as Poverty Reduction, demonstrating how the City of Victoria has opened doors to build trust and relationships with the Lekwungan peoples, using ordinary municipal tools in extraordinary ways. Check out this blog post for a full recap of what we discussed at the event.
The CEP team is growing! We are pleased to welcome Orpah Cundangan as our new Learning Lead. Please get to know her and her passion for sharing community stories here.
