Join Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi and Cities Reducing Poverty members live online for two amazing days as we explore the end of poverty. Our featured keynote, Melody Barnes, worked directly with Barack and Michelle Obama in the White House where she led domestic policy and supported the White House Council on Community Change. Join Melody as she challenges us to end youth poverty, hear from a panel of mayors and thought leaders through plenary sessions, and engage in 14 amazing workshops. Tamarack Institute excited to be hosting this fun and interactive learning experience.
Each day you will be able to engage in a morning plenary then will break out into smaller groups to learn through interactive workshops. Using innovative approaches, you will be able to network with others who have lived/living experience of poverty, business leaders that are creating great jobs, government leaders at all levels changing policies, and not-for-profits doing incredible community-based work. Explore 14 pathways that have already reduced poverty for one million Canadians. COVID-19 has reminded us just how important it is for Canada to end poverty and inequity. With COVID-19, tax filing takes on an even more important role in poverty reduction by lifting newly vulnerable people out of poverty and supporting those most at risk.
