Announcing the 2025-2026 Communities Climate Transitions Innovation Fund Recipients

Written by the Tamarack Institute | Mar 23, 2026 5:40:10 PM

We are thrilled to announce 13 recipients of the 2025-2026 Communities Climate Transitions Innovation Fund (CCTIF). Building on the momentum of previous years, this cohort is made possible through the support of the Definity Insurance Foundation and the Echo Foundation, whose partnership allowed us to provide vital funding to community-led climate projects across Canada.

From food security and land trusts to urban climate hubs and youth-led initiatives, these projects represent the bold, equitable, and participatory solutions needed to navigate a just climate transition.

Why This Work Matters

At the Tamarack Institute, we believe that those closest to the challenges are also closest to the solutions. Launched in 2021, the Communities Climate Transitions (CCT) network was created to help communities move from climate talk to climate action.

The Innovation Fund was designed to spark new ideas, create deep connections, and build the capacity of local leaders. We weren’t just looking for incremental change; we were looking to support projects that:

  • Center community: Ensuring that individuals are the champions of change.

  • Foster equity: Prioritizing voices that have been historically excluded and continue to be disproportionately impacted by the effects of the climate crisis.

  • Encourage healthy disruption: Testing new ways of living and working together to steward our shared future.

This year’s cohort represents a wide range of climate innovation initiatives across Canada. We are proud to support these organizations at various stages of their journey:

What’s Next?

As these 13 projects begin implementation, the Tamarack team—including our Managers of Communities (MoCs)—is honoured to walk alongside these changemakers.

We look forward to supporting their journey as they ignite the courageous action needed to build a more just and equitable future for all living beings. Together, we are not just funding projects; we are fostering the collective wisdom and regenerative capacity necessary to nurture our communities for generations to come.

And this is only the beginning!
