The Asset-Based Community Development Institute is at the center of a large and growing movement that considers local assets as the primary building blocks of sustainable community development.

The Woodlawn Organization in Chicago was started in response to the alarming physical, social and economic decay of the surrounding community. A coalition of over 100 neighborhood associations, churches and civic organizations formed the organization.
