Liz is passionate about the power and potential of communities getting to impact on complex issues. Liz is Tamarack’s Co-CEO and Director, Learning Centre. In this role she provides strategic direction to the organization and leads many of its key learning activities including collective impact capacity building services for the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Liz is one of Tamarack's highly regarded trainers and has developed and delivered curriculum on a variety of workshop topics including collaborative governance, leadership, collective impact, community innovation, influencing policy change and social media for impact and engagement.

There has been a rapid succession of disruptions to organizations and communities which include responding to a pandemic; moving into virtual workspaces; and trying to support workforces during rapid changes. In some communities, these disruptions have also included climate impacts like floods and forest fires. Each of these shifts have uncovered the reality of inequity and structural racism embedded in our communities and systems.

Repairing Trust

In his ground-breaking book The Speed of Trust, Stephen Covey describes five waves of trust. The first two he tackles are self trust and relational trust.  He notes that foundationally, we must trust ourselves, living with integrity and fulfilling our commitments.  The second relational wave of trust is based on the principle of consistent behaviour and investing in and generating trust with others. Throughout the book Covey describes the reciprocal nature of trust, that it is about giving and receiving.

Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable Development and Collective Impact

More than 500 foundation leaders attended the Philippines League of Corporate Foundations annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Expo in Manila in July.  Highlighting the themes of collaboration and collective impact, the CSR Expo also focused on the progress being made on the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
