Poverty Reduction from a First Nations, Metis and Inuit Worldview
Community of Practice

Next Meeting

Our 2017 learning agenda has come to a close for the year, and we are taking a pause to refresh our community of practice meetings. Please sign up and more details will be sent to you soon regarding calls in 2018.

About

This community of practice meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month. The group meetings are for individuals who are or are working with large populations of Indigenous people on poverty reduction, and are interested in sharing best practice information on programming or engagement strategies for Indigenous populations; would like to co-develop materials or presentations to teach and engage peers across local regions and throughout the national network; and who are interested in working through a collective impact lens.

Benefits of Membership

By joining this unique community of practice you will be able to share your experiences and knowledge in free-flowing and creative ways with other professionals who are working on similar challenges or issues. By engaging in facilitated conversations with your peers, you will uncover new approaches to problems, build your professional skill set, access new ideas and contribute to the transfer of best practices.

Our Commitment

To provide regular, structured opportunities for individuals who are/are working with Indigenous populations on poverty reduction, to be able to:
  • Interact, share information and exchange knowledge and experience related to best practices on programming and engagement with Indigenous populations.
  • Share emerging findings and research on best practices for collaborative poverty reduction work with Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups.
  • Consider the co-development of materials or presentations to teach and engage peers across local regions and throughout the national network.
  • Foster opportunities for deeper collaboration amongst participants, including but not limited to, contracting research that furthers our collective understanding of deeply rooted issues and solutions that affect Indigenous groups.
  • Advocate for particular issues affecting Indigenous groups, as agreed to by CoP members.
